University Recreation Operations Attendant
Job Summary: To serve patrons as a front‑line representative of UREC. Control access to the Klotsche Center and Pavilion, and check in/out rental equipment and process rental fees through use of the Membership Management System. Clean activity and other area(s) of the facility as well as assist where needed. Location – Information Center ID swipe desk, Equipment room, and various areas throughout the facility.
Essential Functions of the Job:

Greet and welcome patrons and guests to the Klotsche Center and Pavilion with a pleasant and positive attitude.
Control access to the KCP by using the Fusion Membership Management System.
Answer questions and give directions to patrons needing assistance.
Manage lost and found Panther Cards.
Answer the phone when the Lead Worker is unavailable.
Possess and demonstrate strong and friendly customer service skills.
Launder, fold, and put away towels and rags.
Clean equipment (such as racquetball goggles, etc.).
Properly issue equipment to patrons, and keys to UREC staff using the membership management equipment check‑out system.
Sell rentals for daily towels, locks, racquetball equipment using Point of Sale in the membership management system.
Clean the equipment room – sweep the floor, throw away trash, disinfect the counter and computer, etc.
Assist patrons by answering questions, giving directions and guiding tours.
Complete and initial assigned cleaning duties.
Assist the Fitness Center and equipment room with towels.
Monitor gender restrooms, locker room, and sauna hourly.
Complete proper forms for cleaning duties and equipment/facility maintenance (trouble reports).
Sweep/mop floors, pick up/take out trash, etc.
Enforce and abide by UREC policies and follow UREC procedures.

Additional Duties: Complete other duties as assigned.
Skills to be gained:
In this position, individuals will gain:

Communication skills – both written and verbal – by communicating with patrons and members to inform them of policies and procedures while providing customer service and by communicating with peers and full‑time UREC staff.
Critical thinking skills – by learning policies and procedures and how to identify and assist with issues that arise throughout the facility.

Qualifications:

Currently enrolled as a student at UWM.
Minimum GPA of 2.0.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to walk around the facility.
Must be able to bend and squat down to clean equipment.

Compensation: $11.00/hour to start.
Hours: 5-25 hours per week.
Department: University Recreation.
Anticipated Start Date: Winterim (January 2, 2025) with all trainings to be completed between 12/8 and 12/19.
